Alex Promislow, beloved husband of Sally Promislow, passed away on December 15, 1989 in Palm Springs, California at the age of 87 years. He is survived by one son, Bertram and his wife, Corinne; three granddaughters, Dianne Lipton (Steven), Karen Ashkin (Lloyd), and Jorda Promislow; four great-grandchildren; three step-children, Marvin Levant (Lesley), Rebecca Freedman (Yehudi), and Victor Levant, and their six children. He is also survived by two sisters: Sonia Marmel and Esther Broverman (Hy) of Winnipeg. He was born in Kiev, Russia and came to Winnipeg, Canada at the age of twenty. He was predeceased in 1967 by his first wife, Ruth. They arrived in Calgary in 1947. He opened and operated Promislow and Co., Calgary until 1963 at which time he retired. He was a founding member and Lifetime Honorary Vice President of the Beth Israel Synagogue. Funeral services will be held at the Jewish Memorial Chapel, 1702 - 17 Avenue S.W. on Tuesday, December 19 1989 at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at the Jewish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Alex Promislow Memorial Fund, Beth Tzedec Synagogue, 1325 Glenmore Trail S.W., Calgary, Alberta, T2V 4Y8.
