John F. Brennan, 78, of 457 W. McKibben St., retired Baltimore & Ohio Railroad employe, died at 1:10 p.m. yesterday in his home. He had been ill 13 months, seriously for four weeks.

Mr. Brennan, a boilermaker, had been retired for 18 years. A lifelong resident of Lima, he was born here June 15, 1875. He was a member of the St. Rose Catholic Church, and its Holy Name Society.

He is survived by his widow, Theresa; four sons, John R. and James H., both of Berryman Addition; C. E., 321 W. O'Connor Ave.; Richard P., Grand Rapids, Mich.; three daughters, Mrs. L. W. Blackburn, Columbus; Mrs. Frank Furry, 542 N. West St.; Mrs. Loren C. Allen, 732 N. Elizabeth St.; 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The body will remain in the Cantwell Mortuary until services at 9 a.m. Thursday in St. Rose Catholic Church. Mr. Brennan's nephew, the Rev. Robert Brennan, O.P., of St. Mary of the Springs College, Columbus, will celebrate the mass. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery.
