William Fred Garlick was born April 9, 1897, in Young County, Texas, to William H. Garlick and Martha Jane Garlick. William stood 6ft. tall, had blue eyes, light hair and a fair complexion. He was married to Julia Segura on January 22, 1921 in Valentine, Texas. They had 12 children. William was a ranchman. He enlisted in the Texas Rangers as a REGULAR RANGER on April 16, 1918 thru June 1, 1918 as a pvt. in Co. N, Hudspeth Scouts. He resigned. During WWI, he enlisted in the Texas Guards as a PFC in Trp K8 in the Cavalry. He later resided in Brite, Texas. In 1920 he was living in Jeff Davis County, Texas and in 1930 he worked for the state highway department in Sierra Blanca, Hudspeth County, Texas. William Fred Garlick died October 28, 1953, in Van Horn, Culberson County, Texas. He was buried in Van Horn Cemetery.
