Grace was the youngest of the 15 children of Maximillian S. Freudenberg (1857-1921) and Eloise Lindauer I (1860-1935). Nine of the children survived to adulthood.

She received her marriage license on March 3, 1922 and married on March 5, 1922 she married George Dewey Sanford I (1898-1965) in Jersey City, New Jersey. He was a printer who worked with Ralph Kohlman (1885-1957). Ralph was married to her sister, Ada Augusta Freudenberg (1884-1957).

Children:
Together they had two children: Eloise Margerite Sanford (1922- ) and George Dewey Sanford II (1925-1994). Eloise married Joseph Lawrence Reilly (1920- ); and George was a Marine who won a purple heart in World War II.

Jersey City:
Grace lived at 90 Laidlaw Avenue in Jersey City in 1935 when her mother died, and she was living at 108 Poplar Street in Jersey City in 1946 when she applied for Social Security.

Maywood, New Jersey:
Grace and George had moved to West Pleasant Avenue in Maywood in Bergen County by time her sister Clara died in 1959.

Death:
Grace died of "congestive heart failure with diabetes" in Hackensack Hospital in Hackensack, New Jersey.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 11 at 10:30 am at the Trinka-Faustini Funeral Home, 439 Maywood Avenue, Maywood. Interment Arlington Memorial Cemetery, Kearny, NJ. Visiting Friday 7-9 pm. Saturday and Sunday 3-5 and 7-9 pm."

She was buried at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park at Arlington Memorial Cemetery at 748 Schuyler Avenue in Kearny, Hudson County, New Jersey and was buried next to her husband.
