DeVota was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Andersen.
Survivors are: sons and daughters-in-law, B.B and Janis Andersen of Kansas City, Mo., Ron and Mary Andersen of Topeka, Kan., Layne P. and Karen Andersen of Edinburg, Texas; daughters and son-in-law, Valerie Munro of Topeka, Kan., and Sharda and Andy Sydzyik of Ord; 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
DeVota grew up in Geddes and graduated from Geddes High School. On March 28, 1935, DeVota was united in marriage to Wilbur Andrew Andersen at Geddes, S.D. The couple made their home in South Dakota until 1950. They lived in Nebraska for a short time before moving to Hays, Kan. After 16 moves, they settled in Columbus for the next 27 years.
Wilbur passed away May 3, 1988. After Wilbur passed away, DeVota would continue to spend her winters in Edinburg and her summers in Ord.
DeVota was a member of the United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, and Tops. While living in Texas, she enjoyed volunteering one day a week at the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce. She also held the position of secretary in her retirement club for many years. One of her favorite times was Christmas and mailing her cards to all the special people in her life.
DeVota was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and four sisters.
Graveside service was at the Pleasant Lawn Cemetery in Geddes, S.D.
