Rosaltha Hoffman was the youngest of three daughters of William Worrella Hoffman and Julia Ann Uhl Hoffman. Her father, Wm. W. W. Hoffman, son of David and Sarah A. Hoffman was born in Bethlehem, Stark Co. June 16 1836. He went from Barlow as Sergeant in Co. F 148 O.N.G. (Ohio National Guard) Served with the Rgt. till about Aug 1 when he was sent sick from Bermuda Hundred to Hampton Hospital Fort Monroe, Virginia, where he died Aug 11 1864. Rosaltha was just 2 years old.
When she was about 6 years old her mother married William Wallace Botkin and he became the guardian of the three girls, Lucy, Martha and Rosaltha.
On September 18, 1870 the W. W. Botkin family departed Omaha, Nebraska and on October 17, 1870 they departed Ogden Utah on the west-bound Overland Train, arriving in San Francisco on October 19, 1870.
Rosaltha married Joel Duncan in 1878 and they had one daughter, Etta and then divorced. She married Marshall Miller in 1881. More can be seen on his memorial.
