Alby Herget, fifth child of Frank and Mary Herget, was born in Crete, December 30, 1898, and died August 9, 1944, at the age of 45 years, 7 months and 9 days.
After having graduated from the public schools of Crete in 1917, she taught in a rural community and later in the Crete public schools.
She was united in marriage to Benj. C. Bilhorn January 29, 1918, at Lincoln. Soon after their marriage her husband left for the army. During this period, she made her home with her sister, Agnes in Crete. In 1919 after her husband returned, they continued to live in Crete until 1920 at which time they moved to Kramer where he accepted a position in the bank. They lived here until December 1943 except for a short period of two years when it was necessary because of Mrs. Bilhorn's asthma to reside in Arizona. Due to vast improvement in her health, they were once more able to move to Kramer where they remained until December 1943.
She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church of Kramer. She was always an active support of the church having sung in the church choir and held various offices in the Ladies Aid Society.
Mr. and Mrs. Bilhorn celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in the spring of 1943.
To this union was born one son, Donald. He is now serving as a Lieutenant in the Medical Corps at present on a hospital ship evacuating wounded soldiers to the U.S.
Mrs. Bilhorn is survived by her husband, Benjamin; one son, Donald; an aged mother, Mrs. Frank Herget of Crete; three sisters and one brother, Bess Redlin of Seattle, Washington; Agnes Herget of Crete; Mary Hier of Lambert, Montana; and Joseph Herget of Portland, Oregon.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 14 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Kramer with Rev. Wm Pebler officiating. Burial was at Lincoln Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Edward Mundt, Edwin Eggert, Henry Fangmeier, J.F. Prucha, August Mundt, and Wm. Heitman.
