Ralph V. Nielson, 78, of Caldwell died Saturday morning at a Caldwell hospital. Mr. Nielson was born Feb. 14, 1892, at Mt. Carroll, Ill., and attended schools there. He married Mary Larson of Ethan, S.D., on Feb. 14, at 1920 St. Paul, Minnesota. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary this year. He was preceded in death by his fist wife, Mattie Penhollow, in 1916. He farmed in Illinois and for nine years in the Ontario area. In 1948, the couple moved to the Middleton-Black Canyon district. He was a member of the Middleton United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Tepfer, Mt. Carroll, and Mrs. Beverly Funk, Las Vegas; two sons, DeWitt Nielson, Newport, Wash., and Kenneth Nielson, Caldwell; a sister, Mrs. Annie Uppenberg, Tampa, Fla.; seven grandchildren and our great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
