American Revolutionary War Soldier. He may have retained the title of "Captain" from service during the French and Indian War.

He was killed during the British retreat from Concord on the first day of the American Revolution, one of fifty Americans either killed or mortally wounded on that day. Deacon Haynes was seventy-nine years old at the time of his death.

Husband of Persis Knight Haynes, married Aug 9,1721 at Sudbury,MA.

Children: Elizabeth Haynes Moore, Moses Haynes, Persis Haynes Stone, and Rachel Haynes Stone.
