"Mr. Giles Sater, Sr. died on Mann Creek last Friday. He was a very old man, being in the neighborhood 90 yrs of age. He had lived here a good many years and leaves a large circle of relatives on the creek. The remains were interred in the Galloway graveyard. Owing to the unusually bad condition of the roads the hearse was unable to make the distance from the Sater place on Saturday and had to stay overnight at Dave Webb's."
Cody's Notes: Dave Webb is Giles son-in-law. Davis "Dave" Webb is the husband of Giles daughter Elizabeth Rosanna "Rosa" Sater.
His obituary is rather misleading. Giles was not "in the neighborhood of 90" as the obituary states. He was actually only 73. However, these types of statements can provide useful tidbits of info on a general description of Giles for any researcher who is interested. He obviously looked much older than he really was, or the people of the area wouldn't have assumed him to be around 90 yrs old.
