Sergeant Stika was commissioned as a Police Officer on 04/28/1958. After graduating from the Police Academy he was assigned to the 10Th District, Mobile Reserve Section, Traffic Control Section, 7Th District, Radar Section, Mobile Reserve Section, Bureau of Field Operations, Office of the Chief, 5TH District, 4Th District, and the Traffic Safety Division. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant on 08/13/1974. He graduated from the National FBI Academy Course in Quantico Virginia in 1978. Sergeant Stika retired from the department on 11/15/1989, with 32 years of service, but remained with the department as a civilian employee working as an Administrative Aid at Area 1 where he stayed for 14.60 years when he finally retired on 08/01/2004. Sergeant Stika was awarded a Department Award of Excellence on 08/01/1959. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having attained the rank of Petty Officer 2ND Class and served from 12-01-1953 to 10-01-1957.

Mr. Stika became a policeman in 1958. He spent most of his career as a Sergeant in the Traffic Safety Division. He retired as a police officer after 32 years of service on November 15, 1989, and continued with the police department as an Administrative Aid at Area 1 where he remained for 14 years when he retired in 2004.
Services: Funeral from KUTIS SOUTH COUNTY Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd. (at Butler Hill), Thursday, September 8, 9:30 a.m. to Queen of All Saints Catholic Church for a 10 a.m. Mass.
Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Contributions to the Backstoppers or the American Diabetes Association appreciated. Visitation Wednesday, 4-9 p.m.
