Mr Corley was a plain outspoken man, and had a large circle of friends who admired him for his candor and frankness, as evidenced by the large crowd attending the funeral. He was a member of Zion E.L. church and rendered faithful service to his country during the War Between the Sections.
The funeral was conducted from his residence by his pastor Rev. J A Cromer and interment followed in the family burying ground with Masonic honors by Lexington Lodge A.F.M. of which he was one of the oldest members.

William Albert Corley was the son of Emanuel Lawrence Corley (27 May 1824-18 Jun 1914) and his first wife, Catherine "Cattie" Monts (25 Jan 1818-5 Jun 1853) along with his brother Wade Franklin (25 Jul 1850 - 27 Dec 1928). Emanuel Lawrence and Catherine were married 1 Apr 1847.
