Son of Caleb Clark, a Revolutionary War Soldier, and Lodama {Gage} Clark; born Adin Clark, he later used the same name of a younger brother Chelal, aka Chetal, who disappeared for several years but later resurfaced in Michigan, living with another younger brother, Wm. Curtis Clark.

Adin married Mehitable "Hetty" Palmer about 1812. They had at least 7, possibly 9 children. In the 1850 Federal Census, they are shown living with their youngest son Franklin Clark, who was then 20 yrs old. In the 1860 Census, they are living with another son, James Albert Clark. In the 1870 Census, they are still living with James but Adin is now identified as "Cehelal" Clark....while Hetty is identified as "Mehety" Clark. Both of them died within 2 years, Adin in 1871 and Hetty in 1872. In addition to sons James Albert Clark & Franklin, another son named Albion Clark, was born 9/19/1821 in Otsego Co, NY & died 4/16/1908 in Clayton Co, Iowa. Albion is buried in the Logan Park Cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa.
