Bessie Spurling, Webster City, died Friday, May 1, 1992, at the Southfield Care Center in Webster City at the age of 93. Bessie was a former resident of Stratford.
Services were held Monday at the Calvary United Methodist Church with Rev. Sue Ellen Sherman officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery.
Survivors include her sisters, Florence McAffee and Gertrude Wilkins, both of Estherville, and Dolly Noll, Ocean Beach, Va; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and two brothers.
Bessie McAffee was born October 20, 1899. In 1917 she married Walter Spurling in Minnesota. The couple lived on a farm in Hardin Township west of Stratford. Bessie lived there until moving into town in 1975. Her husband died in 1967. In 1983 she moved to the Southfield Care Center, Webster City.
