Charles Chamberlain's Mother is Buried Here
Mrs. Augusta Bowes Shaff, 65 years old, mother of Charles Chamberlain of this city, who died Friday [July 6, 1928] afternoon at Canton, S.D., was buried here Monday at the East Side cemetery. The Rev. R.T. Chipperfield of the Methodist church officiated at the burial services. She has been ill for the past year with diabetis which was the cause of her death. Mrs. Shaff, Former Resident Brought Here for Burial
The body of Mrs. Augusta Bowes Shaff, known here as Mrs. Chamberlain, mother of Charles Chambrerlain, was brought to Estherville Monday from Canton, South Dakota, for burial. She passed away Friday, July 6, of heart failure. Funeral services were held at Canton Monday morning, and a short prayer service here at the grave Monday evening in charge of Rev. R.T. Chipperfield. Interment was made in the East side cemetery.

Besides her son in this city, Mrs. Shaff is survived by her husband and several other children. The husband is critically ill and could not attend the services. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, July 11, 1928)
