MRS. CARRIE SAMUELSON
Mrs. Carrie Samuelson passed away at her home here Sunday morning after an illness of about three weeks. She was born in Ovannaker, Helsingland, Sweden, July 17, 1850 and died March 6, 1927, at the age of 76 years, 8 months, 19 days. She spent her childhood days in her native land, coming to America in 1880 and locating in Boone County. On Jan. 1, 1884, she was married to Peter M. Samuelson, who preceded her in death twelve years ago, on January 7, 1915. Nine children came to bless their home, six of whom have passed away, Mrs. Albertina Allison, following her mother in death by twenty-six hours.
She is survived by three children. They are Ida, of Sioux City, Anton of Sweden, Fred of Stratford; a sister, Mrs. Peter Engstrom, and a granddaughter, Mrs. Vernice Otto, who came to care for her grandmother who had been a mother to her. There are 29 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also left to mourn.
Mrs. Samuelson was one of the pioneers of this vicinity, having home here early and known of the hardships of this life. But her cheery smile and her happy disposition helped her through and won for her many friends. She had a strong faith in God, resting not in her own merits but in the finished work of her Lord Jesus Christ.
She had been a member of the Lutheran Church for many years.
Funeral services were held from the Baptist Church Tuesday, Rev. Carl J. Ackerman and Rev. Gunnar Goransson officiating. Interment was made in the Hardin Township Cemetery.
