Milton A. "Bud" Wetzel, age 70, died peacefully surrounded by his family at University Hospital after a struggle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) on Friday, October 20, 1995. He was born in the Town of Lowell on January 19, 1925 and was the son of Albert and Olga (Loeck) Wetzel. He married Edith Brace on August 15, 1947 in Columbus. He farmed for 23 years in the town of York and worked 22 years for American Breeders service. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting, working on the farm with animals, he also got joy watching his grandchildren grow. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Randy of Madison and Dean of Sun Prairie; three daughters, Polly (Lowell) Carter of Madison, Trudy (Paul) Goderstad of Green Bay and Barb Wetzel of Madison; six grandchildren, Tom and Tara Carter, Cailin and Megan Wetzel and Anders and Torin Goderstad; a sister, Charlotte (Marvin) Wendt of Marshall; special family friends, Mike Blau and Katie Wetzel; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Milton; a brother, Fritz; and a sister, Margaret Quandt. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 23, 1995 at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 232 Windsor St. with Pastor Dale Recksin officiating. Burial will be held in the Sun Prairie Memory Garden Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 22, 1995 at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St. The family would like to thank the Doctors and nurses at UW Hospital and a special thanks to Dolly and Don Sauer. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to ALS research or Peace Lutheran Church. WSJ 10/22/1995
