Elsie (Robinson) Maze

Elsie (Robinson) Maze, 93, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004, in Greenwood. She was a resident of Connersville.

She was born Nov. 29, 1910, in Connersville. Her parents were Donovan S. and Beulah A. (Jeffrey) Robinson. She married Lawrence Maze on Sept. 3, 1933. He preceded her in death in 1971. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Vermeulen of Franklin; a son, Lowell Maze of Connersville; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Albert R. Robinson; and a sister, Kathleen Simpkins.

She graduated from Connersville High School in 1929 and from Indiana Business College.

She was employed by Fayette County Farm Bureau and Trading Post as a bookkeeper before becoming a full-time homemaker. She worked on the family farm and did bookkeeping for her husband, who was Jennings Township trustee.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Connersville Chapter 346 Order of the Eastern Star for more than 50 years, Daughters of the American Revolution, Mayflower Society and Daughters of American Colonists.

She enjoyed making quilts and caning chairs.

The Rev. Bill Helms will conduct a service at 1 p.m. Saturday at Urban-Winkler Funeral Home, Thompson Brown Chapel, 513 W. Eighth St. in Connersville. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Union Cemetery.
