BRANNOCK MOUNT AIRY - Mr. George Franklin Brannock, age 82, of Mt. Airy, passed away Tuesday, April 06, 2010 at Bermuda Commons in Advance. Mr. Brannock was born in Surry County, June 16, 1927 to Walter and Emma Brown Brannock. He served our country in the United States Navy, was the former owner/operator of Brannock Electronics and was a member of Grace Moravian Church. Mr. Brannock was an avid amateur radio operator using the call sign "WA4CQK". Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Barry Swaim of Clemmons; a son, Marc Brannock of Reston, VA; grandchildren, Kelly Brannock, Katie Brannock, Madeline Swaim, and Meredith Swaim; his ex-wife, Jo Anne Brannock; a sister, Polly Holder of Mt. Airy; and a brother and sister-in-law, W. Lewis and Elva Brannock of Portsmouth, VA. In addition to his parents, Mr. Brannock was preceded in death by a sister, Blanche McBride and brothers, J. Harry Brannock and Jimmy Brannock. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 8, 2010 at Oakdale Cemetery by Rev. Jeff Coppage.
