Frances Pauline "Polly" Thurmond, 82, of Waco, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, with burial following in Robinson Cemetery. Family visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Polly was born to the late Samuel George and Cecil Gladys Burch. Frances married Harry Louis Thurmond Sr. on Nov. 22, 1952. She was a member of the West Robinson Baptist Church, and was also a long-time member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. Frances loved to cook so much that anyone who stopped by could expect to be fed. She also enjoyed sewing and making quilts with her mother. Polly adored her family and was adored by her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Thurmond Sr.; sons, Winford Thurmond, and Harry Thurmond Jr.; and a daughter, Gloria Cope.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Ann Lawson and husband, Paul; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; as well as many other family members and friends.
