In 1880, Hubert was living on Croghan Street with his wife, Cecelia, and their two year old daughter, Vernia. When the 1900 Federal Census was taken, Hubert (60) was living in a rental home on Monroe Avenue in Detroit, with Cecelia (48), and their children Vernia (22), Mabel (18), Laura (16), and Edna (8). Hubert was working as a moulder in a machine shop, his daughter Vernia was a dressmaker, Mabel worked as a stenographer, and Laura and Edna were in school.
