Maude Earl was an aerialist with the Barnum and Bailey Circus, Sells & Gray, Great Wallace, and various others. She was also one of the Earl Sisters, a "family" of girls raised by Lola Earl, who took in several of the girls and raised them as her own and had them as part of the "Earl Sisters" act in circuses nationally and internationally. She was the daughter of Frank Stevens.

She was married to John S. Hickey in Puyallup, WA, on 27 July 1901, and continued with the circus. She was the mother of Hazel.

Maud Earl, of Earl Sisters, met with quite a painful accident in San Francisco, with the Wallace Circus. While finishing and turning a bace off her horse she broke two bones in her foot, which had to be put in plaster paris. She was taken to a private hospital, but will be removed to her home, Earl Villa, as soon as she can stand the trip.

Mrs. Hickey, living a mile north of town, died early Sunday morning, after a very short illness. She awakened her husband, telling him she was very ill, and he ran to the L.P. Johnson home to telephone for the doctor, and while he was only a few minutes reaching her, she passed away before medical aid could be given. She was around 65 years of age and was caring for two small granddaughters in the home.
Funeral services will be planned when the daughter arrives from Michigan.
