Chillicothe Gazette, Chillicothe, Ohio. Thu, 13 Jul 1933, Page 2. "Effie Brown, second daughter of David and Louisa Pricer Brown, was born September 10, 1869, died at her home in South Salem, July 8th, 1933, age 63 years, 9 months and 28 days. She was one of a family of eight children. Her parents and one brother, William and her sister, Mrs. Irene Kline having preceded her in death, leaving Leighton, Erskin, Ernest, Hugh and Robert to mourn the loss of this devoted sister. Her life was one of cheerful service, her thought was always for others, planning for the welfare of those she loved. Her hands were always busy seeking to lighten the burden of her loved ones. Miss Effie united with the Presbyterian church at South Salem on January 24, 1885 and remained a faithful member until her work was ended and she heard the summons "Come up higher." For 35 years she has lived in South Salem, and her life here among us--her life of purity speaks louder than words of ours can do. Thus ends the story of a noble woman in this life, but just a little ways beyond just over the border, another book will be opened and on its fair page will be written by her these words, "I've begun a new life in a new and better world.""
