Gerald R. Mell, age 71, of 226 South St., died at home Saturday, September 10, 1988.
He was born in Dane on July 26, 1917, the son of John and Christina (Thorness) Mell. He married Margaret Jesberger on June 22, 1940 in Madison. He served in the army and was a veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Allen (Mary) Mell of Stoughton; a daughter, Judy (James) Joyce of Alexandria, VA; a brother, Elmer Mell of Sun Prairie; two sisters, Ruby Thompson of Oke and Agnes Hooper of Palmyra; and three grandchildren, John and Jessica Mell and Brigit Joyce. He was preceded in death by his twin sister, Geraldine Markgraf; two brothers, Jack and Ted; and a sister, Ann Adams.
A funeral mass will be held at Sacred Hearts of Jesus & Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus St., Sun Prairie at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 13, 1988. Father Steve Kortendick will officiate. Burial will be in Sun Prairie Memory Garden. Friends may call at the Tuschen Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St., Sun Prairie from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 12, where a scripture service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
