Vernon "Vern" Baccus was a business man of early New Cordell, Oklahoma. He owned and operated Cordell Salvage on HW 183 1/4 block north of intersection of State HW 152 and U.S. HW 183 for many years untill a heart attack forced him to sell the business. He later after several years of recovery was employed by Cordell National Bank of Cordell as a teller, where he worked for many years untill his death. He was a member of The First Baptist Church of Cordell and served as a trustee. Vernon was a member of the Kiawanis Club and never knew a strainger. He was well respected by both young and old!
