Mrs. Augusta Kane, 76, died at 8 :30 Saturday evening in Moline Lutheran hospital of complications resulting from a fractured hip, which she incurred in a fall at her home December 5. Augusta Brockmann, daughter of Frederick and Elizabeth Brockmann, was born Aug. 19, 1870, near Hillsdale, where she was reared and educated. She was married to Herman Kane Dec. 28, 1891, who died in 1905. Mrs. Kane was of German Lutheran faith. She was the last surviving member of a family of six. Survivors are two sons, William and Ernest, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Clarence McGregor of Hillsdale, and Mabel, also at home; one granddaughter, Mrs. Banker Ashdown of Port Byron, and two great granddaughters, Wanda and Beverly Ashdown of Port Byron. Private funeral services will be held at 1:30 tomorrow afternoon in the home, and public services will be held at 2 in the Hillsdale Methodist church, the Rev. Cedric Powell of the Port Byron Methodist church officiating because of the absence of the pastor, the Rev. E.L. Fahnestock. Burial will be in Mt. Maria cemetery near Hillsdale. The body was taken to the Wendt and Daily funeral home in Port Byron and will be brought to the home early Tuesday morning.
