Augustus Duane was a farmer and later a prominate businessman in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. He married Annie Christie, who immirgrated from Ireland, on November 8, 1867 in the Madonna Church in Fort Lee, NJ. In 1889, Duane was the treasurer of the St. Francis Association which was instrumental in founding the first Catholic parish in Ridgefield Park (St. Francis of Assisi church.) He had six children; John J., Thomas, James A., Annie, Ellen and Peter.
