OBITUARY FOR FRANCES ARNOLD:

THE DAILY CHRONICLE (DeKalb, Illinois) 25 Jan 1940

Mrs. Frances Cornelia Arnold, age 89, one of the oldest residents of the county seat, passed away at 4:00 o'clock this morning at her home, on South Somonauk Street. Mrs. Arnold had been in failing health for some time, due to the infirmities of old age.Mrs. Arnold was born in St. Albans, Vt., on November 29, 1850, the daughter of Cornelia Moore and Walter H. Burbank. She came with her parents to the Sycamore community in 1860, the family locating on a farm near the county seat. In 1874 the family purchased the Sycamore home in which she had made her home until the time of her death.In June 1889, she was united in marriage to William H. Arnold. With the exception of a few years spent in Iowa and Minnesota, the family had resided in the Sycamore community all its life, engaging in farming for a number of years. Mr. Arnold died in 1922.Mrs. Arnold is survived by two step-daughters, Mrs. Bella MacDonald and Mrs. Harriet Calhoun, the latter having made her home with Mrs. Arnold, to assist in her care, for the past six years, and one nephew, Dorsa Burbank of Cortland. Two brothers, George and Arthur Burbank, have preceded her in death.Funeral services will be held on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the Methodist church, the Rev. C. H. Draper to conduct the service. Interment will be in the Elmwood cemetery.
