Caroline Haight Decuers passed away peacefully on July 17, 2011, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Beloved wife of the late Dr. James Conrad Decuers, Sr. She was survived by her devoted children Liz Decuers deBoisblanc (Rene), Theodore Edward Decuers, Robert Anthony Decuers, Nancy Louise Decuers ( Stephan), Jane Car- oline Decuers (Dru), and Mary Decuers Fontana (Trey.) She is also survived by her loving sister Edith FlaitzMiller, her son-in- law Edward Delaney, as well as grandchildren Amy deBoisblanc Johnson (Sommer), Pierre and Lisette deBoisblanc, Caitlin Delaney Joseph (Mark), Caroline, Patrick and Shannon Delaney, Cole Decuers, Claire, Margaux, Harrison and Wyatt Fontana; her great-grandchildren Jacob Russell, Juliette and Corinne Johnson, and her grand-dogs Tallulah, Savannah, Pappee, Pebbles, Sam, Bosco and Lady.

Mrs. Decuers was born in Mount Clemens, Michigan, and raised in Fort Myers, Florida until her mid twenties. She moved to New Orleans to complete her nurse's training at Hotel Dieu Hospital where she met and fell in love with Jimmy Decuers. They married and raised their ten children together. She was an accomplished artist and avid art collector. She enjoyed gardening and grew prized hibiscus and camellias. Her everlasting gift to those she left behind was her quick wit and her wicked sense of humor.

She was preceded in death by her parents Colonel Edward M. Haight and Beuna Haight Flaitz, her brothers Edward Langford Haight, Frank and John Flaitz, and her beloved children Suzanne Decuers Delaney, James Conrad Jr., William Joseph and Charles Louis Decuers.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to, Viola Nickerson, Sylvia Frank, Michelle Bailey, Trenise Costello, Lourena Price, Kathy Bernstein and Kim Thompson, for their kind and compassionate care.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery), on July 20th, 2011 at 11am. Friends may visit after 9am. Interment will be private.
