Death claims oldest Hartford resident at 99
Ninety-nine-year-old George Boze, Hartford's oldest resident, died Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Burnham Hammond, from pneumonia. He had been bedridden since he suffered a broken neck in a fall three years ago.
Born in Ohio, Boze was a farmer in the Keener area for many years before he retired and came to Hartford In 1872, he married Esther Capes in Ohio. She died in 1918.
Surviving are six sons, Milton, Marion and Elmer, all of Hartford, Jess of Delton, Mich., Hezzie of Kalamazoo and Walter of Doster, Mich,; three daughters, Mrs. Margaret Criffield of Dowagiac, Mabel Akin of Edwardsburg and Mrs. Hammond, and 29 grandchildren.
Funeral services were to be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Calvin chapel, with Elder George Gantz of the Seventh-day Adventist church officiating. Burial was to be in Keeler cemetery.
