COOKEVILLE -- Graveside military services and burial for Walter Robert (Bob) Bell Jr., 86, of the Buffalo Valley community, will be held at a later date in Fort Logan Veterans Cemetery in Denver, Colo.
Mr. Bell died Friday evening, Aug. 26, 2011, in Masters Health Care Center in Algood.

COLORADO -- Graveside services, with Navy military honors, for Walter Robert (Bob) Bell Jr., 86, of Algood, formerly of Wheatridge, Colo., and Escondido, Calif., will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 9, at Fort Logan, VA National Cemetery in Denver, Colo.
Mr. Bell joined our Heavenly Father on Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, with his family by his side, in Algood.
He was born Jan. 17, 1925, in Brewer, Maine, to the late Walter R. and Edith Bell.
He served in the Navy during World War II as a Pharmacist's Mate First Class aboard the USS Shangri-La. He was aboard the Shangri-La for the first atomic tests on Bikini Atoll.
His family includes a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy Ann and Mike Hogan of Buffalo Valley; four grandchildren, Kelli and husband Eric Graff, Kerri and husband Chris Algood, Tammy and husband Robert Depperschmidt and Erin and husband David Bilbrey; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Joan Warnshuis of Escondido.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Leta Mae Bell, and a son, Michael R. Bell.
