He was born on 7 Jan 1885 in Somer Township, Champaign County, Illinois. His parents were Karl Reifsteck and Christena Krumm. He was a faithful member of St. Peters Evangelical Church in Champaign.

In his early years he lived on the family farm in Scott Township, just South of Champaign, Illinois. He lived with his parents until he married Lydia in 1908. At that time they moved to another farm in Scott Township. He lived there until his death in 1961. He was a farmer his entire life.

William Louis Reifsteck and Lydia Caroline Heimburger married on 26 Aug 1908 in Champaign, Illinois. He married Eula M. Ogden on 22 Aug 1933. William and Lydia had 7 children (Andrew, Ruth (Wright/Bencher), Christine (Tharp), Gladys (Bryant), William, Edwin, Mary Alice (Rawson). It doesn't appear he had any children with Eula.

He passed away at the age of 76 at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, 6 Feb 1961 at his home in Champaign, Illinois. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, 9 Feb 1961 at Heath Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Walter Nofke presided over the services. He was buried in Section 6, lot 121, Sp 2 of Woodlawn Cemetery in Urbana, Illinois.
