A 23 April 2006 obituary in the Macon Telegraph newspaper indicates his divorced first wife Lucille (Toland) Akins Johnson was to be interred in Greensboro, Greene County.
A 21 Feb 2007 obituary in the Atlanta Constitution newspaper indicates his second wife Cassie Lee (Taylor) Akins died in Greensboro.
