William Carol "William Carroll" Akins married first to Lucille Toland (1920 Griffin, Georgia – 22 April 2006; daughter of Leonard Toland). Their children were:
William E Akins (1939 Georgia, USA – 17 March 1961 Greene County, Georgia, USA)
Byron Cawthon Akins (9 July 1940 Greene County, Georgia – 27 April 2012 Greensboro, Greene County).
Mary Akins (born 1941 or 1942 Georgia)
Joseph Leonard Akins (18 September 1944 Greensboro, Greene County – 27 January 1997)

Around 1940, he was a laborer on the railroad. By 1942 he was a self-employed truck driver.

Following their divorce, he married secondly to Cassie Lee Taylor (before the 1950 Census occurred), while Lucille married Bobby Gene Johnson. The 1950 Census also indicates he was working for a textile mill.

He died on 23 March 1988 in Greene County.

A 23 April 2006 obituary in the Macon Telegraph newspaper indicates his divorced first wife Lucille (Toland) Akins Johnson was to be interred in Greensboro, Greene County.

A 21 Feb 2007 obituary in the Atlanta Constitution newspaper indicates his second wife Cassie Lee (Taylor) Akins died in Greensboro.
