Philip, 92, died at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He was born to Alfred Augustus Hart and Sarah Cecilia Patterson, obtained a B. S. Degree in physics from Utah State University in 1935, and earned a Ph. D. in physics from Iowa State University in 1939. He taught for one year at Carbon College (now College of Eastern Utah) in Price. In 1942, he accepted a position at Utah State University and taught there for 14 years. He married Olive Ellen Winterton on June 18, 1941, in the Salt Lake Temple. They had seven children. In 1956, they moved to Palo Alto, CA, where he worked for Lockheed Missiles and Space company. After he retired in 1977, they moved to Provo, then to Idaho Falls in 2000. They were active members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and he served in many positions, including stake clerk, bishopric counselor and High Priests group leader. He and Olive served six years as ordinance workers in Provo Temple. He enjoyed photography, genealogy, and writing family history stories.

Survivors included: children Lynn W. Hart of Columbia, MD, Roland J. (Cheryl) Hart of Lander, WY, Alan P. (Shirley) Hart of Maple Valley, WA, Sharlene (Merrill) Andersen of Kennewick, WA, Nadine (Michael) Thompson of Idaho Falls, Grant W. (Deborah) Hart of Orem, UT, and Diane (Zane) Williams of Auburn, WA; siblings Edward L. (Frances) Hart of Provo, Lillian (Raymond) Carr of Charlevoix, MI, Norma (Dorsel) Anderson of San Lorenzo, CA, and Douglas B. (Bonnie) Hart of Logan, UT; 40 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Preceding were Olive in in 1997, sisters Ruth Lundell and Flora Woolston, and brothers Alfred, Eugene, Heber and Lawrence. Funeral Services held August 19 at Ammon Stake Center with Bishop Scott Hall of Ammon 8th Ward officiating. Graveside Services held August 20.
