"Wash" Earles
Washington Marshall "Wash" Earles, 84, of Axton, VA died on June 7, 2009 in Danville Regional Medical Center after being in declining health for the past five years. He was born in Henry County, on July 13, 1924, son of Robert H. Earles and Bertha Compton Earles. He had lived all of his life in the Axton and Sandy River communities.
He had retired from Dan River Mills Inc. with 38 years of service. He had worked as a Weaver and Loom fixer in the former Riverside Division. Prior to working for Dan River Mills, he operated Earles Grocery on Highway 58 in Axton. He lived his life in Christian Service; he was a member of Anderson Chapel Untied Methodist Church in Axton.
On January 9, 1948 he married Doris Triplett Earles who survives of the residence. He is also survived by a son, David M. Earles; three daughters, Patricia E. Prevette (Tom), Deborah E. Brumfield (Terry) and Donna E. Shumate (John); eight grandchildren. He was predeceased in death by five sisters, Flora Earles, Mae Earles Terry, Rosie Anderson Earles, Lula Earles Marshall and Ellen Roach McKinney.
Burial will be in Anderson Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
