John William Watson, 99, of Fairfield, died at 11:30 a.m., Dec. 3, 1989, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.
He was born Aug. 7, 1890, in Van Buren County to John A, and Mary E, Williams Watson. He married Claire Litton on Sept. 18, 1912, in Ottumwa. She died May 26, 1981.
He was a farmer and lived in Van Buren County for 10 years and in Jefferson County for 89 years. He was a member of First Christian Church in Fairfield.
He is survived by a daughter, Dorothy Fulton of Fairfield; and eight grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mae Peebler of Fairfield.
He was preceded in death by four sons, Raymond, James, Donald and Richard; a daughter, Shirley; four sisters; and two brothers.
