Albert J. "Skip" Janacek, 81, of La Grange, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 6, 2011, under the loving care of his children, grandchildren, friends, and Hospice.

Skip was born in Dayton, Texas, on August 10, 1929, the son of the late Pelegrin and Josephine (Korenek) Janacek. He married Lillie M. Hromadka on September 10, 1951in Dubina, Texas.

Skip was a lifetime resident of this area. He has been known to be a "jack of all trades", electrician, refrigeration installer, sawmill operator, carpenter, woodsman, winemaker, hunter, fisherman, rancher, gardener, inventor, artist, …..a man using the resources of God's earth and God's talents as a disciple in mission. He was a member of the Holy Rosary parish, KJT and the American Legion. Skip enjoyed spending time with family and friends and sharing stories as he was a great storyteller.

He is survived by son Danny Janacek and wife, Barbara of La Grange; two daughters: Theresa Wagner and husband, Charles of Engle, Janice Brandt and husband, Roger of La Grange; eight grandchildren: Ryan Janacek and fiancé, Jenna Day; Neal Janacek and wife, Jessica; Shawn Janacek and wife, Sequoya; Randy Brandt and wife, Erica; J.K. Brandt and wife, Karie all of La Grange; Charlotte Hachenberg and husband, Aaron of Kyle; Clayton Wagner and wife, Kitty of La Grange; Tommy Wagner and wife, Desiree of Kyle; 7 great grandchildren: Jacob Brandt, Adysen, Ella and Dalton Janacek, and Wyatt Wagner all of La Grange; Caden and Seth Hachenberg of Kyle; sister Helen Emmel and husband, John of Weimar; brother John Janacek and wife, Mary Ann of Yorktown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Skip was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Lillie, of 56 years, who passed away on October 1, 2007.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 8, 2011, at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home in La Grange. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hostyn. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2011, at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Robert Fisher and Deacon John McCourt officiating. The Burial will follow at Hostyn Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 936 FM 2436, Hostyn, TX 78945; American Cancer Society, c/o Prosperity Bank, P.O. Box B, La Grange, TX 78945; or a charity of one's choice.
