Pilot for President Franklin D. Roosevelt, he flew Roosevelt to the Yalta Conference. He piloted General Dwight D. Eisenhower. He met Winston Churchill, Chang Kai-Shek, and Stalin, given appreciation watch by the president of Turkey. He was a colonel in the U. S. Air Force.

Chief pilot of Transcontinental & Western Air (later TWA), flight-tested Stratoliner, first Boeing 4-engine passenger plane; vice-President Singer-Link division
