MOUNT AIRY - Mr. Louis Edmund Knueppel Jr., 77, of 111 Sofia Lane, Mount Airy, widower of Mrs. Catherine Maria Sofia Knueppel, passed away Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, at Northern Hospital of Surry County.
He was born Sept. 25, 1932, in Jersey City, N.J., to Mr. and Mrs. Louis Edmund Knueppel Sr. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was retired from Insteel Wire.
Surviving are four daughters and a son-in-law, Donna Vasquez Rios of the home, Darlene and David Gentry of Mount Airy, Cathy Poore of Canton and Karen Draughn of Winston-Salem; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Louis B. and Carol Knueppel of Lambsburg, Va., and George F. Knueppel of the home; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a special nephew, John Knueppel of Alabama. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Knueppel was preceded in death by a son, Charles John Knueppel.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Gene Brinkley. Entombment will follow in the Skyline Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
