Wanita R. "Neets" Grimes, 87, Peru, passed away at 1:40 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011 Millers Merry Manor in Peru.
She was born in Peru on April 2, 1924 to Charles and Marie (McKinley) Bowman, both deceased. On April 9, 1948 she married Joseph O. "Jo" Grimes. Wanita was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband Joseph; a son, Vern Grime and Lynn Stephenson of Peru; daughters Nancy Grimes of Peru, and Judy Grimes and Bobie Bookwalter of Peru; grandchildren Jo Grimes and wife Dawn, Angie Sparks, Zach Grimes and wife Laura, Adam Siders, Paul Grimes and wife Laurie, Christopher Grimes and wife Laurie, Christopher Grimes and wife Emily. Also surviving are 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Wanita was preceded in death by both parents, five brothers, one sister and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29, 2011 at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 W. Third St., Peru, with Pastor George Dinkel officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Peru.
Friends may call 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home.
