Leland Schultz Chinn, 90, of McHenry, passed away, Thursday, August 25, 2011 at his residence in McHenry. He was born July 5, 1921 in Echols, to the late Bryan and Katie Elliott Chinn. He was a World War II, US Army Veteran seeing action all over Europe and Africa. He was a member of McHenry Baptist Church, a retired Crane operator for Peabody Coal Company, and a member of the UMWA, and the D.A.V. He also was an avid University of Kentucky fan. When he was in the 11th grade, he answered the call to fight in World War II. He later completed his high school education in 2002 as a proud graduate of Ohio County High School. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Elizabeth Matthews Chinn, his wife, Wanda Blue, his son, Donald Ray Howard, and his sister Opha Mae Plummer. Survivors include his Granddaughter, Amanda Duke (Brad) of Beaver Dam, his Nephews, Donnie Joe Plummer (Claudia) of McHenry, and Richie Plummer (Martha) of Beaver Dam, his sister-in-law, Lois Wells (Carl), of Owensboro, his Great-Grandchildren Adam, Leah, and Lora Duke all of Beaver Dam, as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 12:00PM, Saturday, August 27, 2011 at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, with Brother Scott Flener and Brother Brent Howard officiating. Burial will be in Render Memorial Cemetery in McHenry. Military honors will be provided by Wesley Phelps Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 4-8PM, Friday August 26 and 9AM until time of service on Saturday.
