In the 1910 census of Saline County, Missouri, James was listed as a grocery merchant. Children in their home at that time were Cora 21, Willie 16, Ora 12, and Walter 10. Also living with them was a granddaughter Goldie Meredith age 5.
In 1920, they were living in the same location and James was listed as a farmer. Two sons were left in the home, William 25, and Walter 20.
In the 1930 census of Saline County, Missouri, James was 86 and Lizzie 72. They were living with their son William E. Boston age 35.
When James Emerson Boston died on June 6, 1932, his death certificate shows his wife Elizabeth is still living. Her death date is unknown to this writer.
