Virginia L. Stocker, 90, of Shapleigh, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at the Newton Center in Sanford. She was born in Lebanon, Maine on May 31, 1921 a daughter of the late Grover C. and Etta M. (Nickerson) Mooers. She attended Lebanon and Milton schools and graduated from Nute High School. She then attended MacIntosh Business School in Dover.

From 1942 to 1945 she was employed by Allied Novelty Shoe. She also worked as a secretary for Crediford Insurance and was a representative for Avon. She will fondly be remembered as a homemaker, doing her own sewing, gardening.

Mrs. Stocker was a member of the Conference Church, 7th Day Adventist.

She is predeceased by her husband, Chesley Stocker, who passed away in 2000. She is also predeceased by her brothers, Clyde L. Mooers, Percy R. Mooers, Fred L. Mooers and Grover C. Mooers.

She is survived by her sons, Robert H. Stocker of Shapleigh, Warren C. Stocker of Newton, NH, a daughter, Ann E. Lunny of Springvale, seven grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, her sister-in-law, Arlene Mooers of Milton, NH, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Mrs. Stocker will take place on Sunday, August 28th at 11AM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. Visiting hours will begin at 9AM until the time of the funeral service. Burial will take place on Monday at 11AM at Riverside Cemetery in Springvale.
