Louise M. Knudson, 93, passed away August 19, 2011 in Redlands, CA. She was born August 4, 1918 in Underwood, ND to Chester & Ethel Greene. She attended country schools and graduated from high school in Garrison, ND.
She had three brothers; Dick, Ray, and Wes Greene, all of whom have passed away.
On January 2, 1943, LaMoyne Knudson and Louise Greene were married in Tacoma, WA where they were working at the time. They came back to live in Buchanan, ND where Louise worked at the Telephone Office and LaMoyne worked at the Grain Elevator until he went into the service in 1945.
He was a Corporal in the Army in Okinawa during WWII.
From 1947 to 1957 LaMoyne, Louise, Darrell and Nikki lived in Kintyre, ND where Louise was the Assistant Postmaster and LaMoyne worked at the Grain Elevator as a grain buyer for the area. They were all active in the community during this time with church, Scouting, and school.
In 1957 the family moved to Redlands, CA. LaMoyne passed away on April 1, 1958. Louise
worked at Van Dorin Motors as a bookkeeper from 1957-1964 and then worked for Lange & Runkle Chevrolet dealership for 15 years (1964-1979) doing DMV work. She also worked part-time as bookkeeper/DMV for other agencies for several years.
Louise really enjoyed teaching many Senior Water Aerobics classes for the City of Redlands and the Arthritis Foundation after her retirement from DMV work.
She was an avid reader, enjoyed music, baseball, daily walks, talking with neighbors & working out at the pool. She was always there for her family and friends.
Survivors include her son, Darrel and wife Lorna Knudson of North Tustin, CA and daughter Nikki Pratt of Pleasanton, CA. Granddaughter Julie Knudson and her husband Paul Duffy that live in CO and grandson Darren and his wife Karen Knudson and three great-grandchildren; Luke, Kyle & Hope Knudson living in North Tustin, CA. Granddaughter Jacquelyn Pratt and great-granddaughter Cheyenne, granddaughter Kelli and husband Lucas Johnson and great-grandchildren Mary and Loki Johnson, all living in CO.
Funeral srvices will be held on Friday, August 26, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Cortner Chapel, 221 Brookside Ave.
Interment will follow in Hillside Memorial Park, Redlands. Cortner Chapel, directing.
