Helen Maureen Capps was born on October 15, 1912 in Granby, Newton Co., Missouri to James Willis Capps and Ina Pearl Beaver Capps. She was the oldest of three children. Her sister, Arvilla Byrle Capps was born on July 9 1914 and died on March 21 1975. Their baby brother, George D. Capps was born and died on the same day: Aug 15 1923.
Helen married Fred Alton McDaniel and together they had four children.

Helen M. McDaniel, 98, Granby, died August 24, 2011 at Pittsburg, KS, following a short illness. Helen was born Oct. 15, 1912 in Granby, MO, the daughter of James W. and Ina P. (Beaver) Capps. She was a lifelong area resident, a homemaker and member of the Granby Church of God, where she taught Sunday school and youth and enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren, crocheting and working in her yard. Helen married Fred McDaniel in 1933 at Granby and he preceded her in death on Oct. 13, 1986. She is survived by a daughter, Dixie Haase and husband, Loren, Granby; a son, Joe McDaniel and wife, Carol, Granby; a son in law, Gordon Johnson, CA; a daughter in law, Rita McDaniel, Joplin; 12 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria Johnson; a son, Opal McDaniel; grandson, Robin McDaniel and a sister, Byrle Hardy.
