D. Steve Franklin, 65, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010, at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born March 22, 1944, in Portland, to Dorwin Merle and Barbara Jean (Strobe) Franklin. On June 15, 2002, he married Vivian (Clifton) Sheely, and she survives. He was a huge Colts fan and also enjoyed watching wrestling and other sports. His hobbies included building model cars and collecting model semis and trains. In addition to his wife, Vivian Franklin, he is survived by two brothers, Doug Franklin, Kokomo, and Kevin (Kim) Franklin, Westfield; four sisters, Cindy (Jim) Catron, Alabama, Karen (Paul) Cloyd, Indianapolis, Gloria (Mike) Gaines, Kokomo, and Cherryl (Randy) Lindgren, Kokomo; best friends, Terry and Kathy Cooke, Jimmie and Sherri Woodring, Jon and Vickie Kitts, and Ronnie and Bonnie Hickman; a host of other friends; and his pets, Lightning and Motor. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bruce Franklin. Service is 2 p.m. Friday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, with Pastor David Cornelius officiating. Entombment will take place in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visiting hours are noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
