Graveside services for Willis E. Mitchell, 80, fondly known as Mitch, who passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2008 at Texoma Medical Center. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Highland Cemetery in Durant, Oklahoma. Mitch's nephew, Scott Crain, will officiate at the service. The family will be receiving friends at the Brown's Funeral Service Chapel in Durant on Tuesday, March 25, at 6:00 p.m.
Mitch was a long-time resident and business owner of the Durant Tire Company, Mitch's Used Trucks, and MaMa Bear's Antiques since 1957. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and auctions. Mitch was known as a wheeler-dealer, never turning down the last deal of the day.

He was born September 3, 1927, in Stone County, Missouri in a one room log cabin. Mitch proudly served as a member of the Merchant Marines in the Pacific during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents Reggie Mitchell of Springfield, Missouri and Katherine Whiteid of Durant; his sister Betty Davis, of St. Charles, Missouri and his granddaughter Angie of Pottsboro, Texas. Mitch is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nita "MaMa Bear"; his daughter Pamela Mitchell-Robinson and husband Bobby of Durant; son Larry Mitchell and wife Debbie of Durant; daughter Sharon Mitchell of Dallas; sister Joan Crain of Durant; brother Jimmie Mitchell of Plano, Texas; sister Vicky Whiteid-Ellis of Durant, 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and many long time friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.
