This is my great-grandfather, one of four children. His half-brothers were Sam and Asa Pipkin. They were both Baptist preachers and lived near Houston, Texas. Their family moved to Texas after the War between the States in 1876. Upon his father's death, he inherited 300 acres of land near Longview, Texas. Mosquitoes were bad there, so he sold it and moved to Alba, Texas. Then later on to Smiths Prairie in Hunt County, TX. It was here they raised their children.
