Notice the smaller black and white metal marker at the base of the headstone. This was her original marker. It says: "Died Feb. 5 1927 Age 74". This calculates to an 1853 birth year, which matches the 1900 Census. Her Arkansas Death Certificate records: Mario (Mariah) Nix, Scott County, 5 Feb 1927.
The 1860, 1900 and 1910 census report her birth place as Arkansas. However, the 1880 and 1920 Census and her Death Certificate record her birthplace as Texas. The birth certificate for her son, Charley Lemah Nix, reports her birthplace as Weatherford, Texas.
However, the 1860 Parker County, Texas census reports that she and ALL of her siblings were born in Arkansas. Also, her father's 1867 voter registration reports that he moved to Parker County, Texas in 1859. He was in the 1850 Wileys Cove, Searcy, Arkansas census.
