Funeral services for Bernice Minnie Bierstedt, 76, of Gaylord will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday from St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Gaylord, with the Rev. Karl Jacobson officiating.

Mrs. Bierstedt died on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, at Immanuel St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato.

Visitation is Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Pallbearers will be Todd Brinkman, Troy Brinkman, Gary Bierstedt, Randy Frauendienst, Steve Pond and Larry Hahn. Interment will be in the church cemetery in Gaylord.

Bernice Minnie Frauendienst was born on March 11, 1924, in New Auburn Township, Sibley County, to Edward and Selma (Grewe) Frauendienst. She attended Immanuel Lutheran School at Brownton and New Auburn public school. She was a waitress at Gaylord restaurants, the Green Lantern and Goetsch Oil Company. She married Clarence Bierstedt on June 17, 1945, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Mountville, rural Gaylord.
The Bierstedts farmed in Sibley Township before retiring in 1976 and moving into Gaylord.

Mrs. Biersfedt was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Gaylord, where she taught Sunday school for many years, was a Luther League counselor and a member of the Naomi Circle.

She enjoyed gardening and canning, reading, embroidery, vacationing up north and being with her family.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Adrieann and Cyril Brinkman, Yvonne and Jerry Franke, all of Gaylord; son and daughter-in-law, Delroy and Kathleen Bierstedt of Gaylord; brother, Darwin Frauendienst of Brownton; sister and brother-in-law, Donna Mae and Don Briesemeister of Shakopee; sister-in-law, Doris Hopp of Nicollet; brother-in-law, Harold and Bernice Bierstedt of Gaylord; sister-in-law, Lenora Briest of Gaylord; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, in 1991; and infant daughter in 1961; great-grandson, Joshua Todd Brinkman; parents; and brother Verlin Frauendienst.
